What is the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009/2010?
On February 17, 2009, President Obama signed the "Stimulus Bill" (The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009) that made significant changes to the energy efficiency tax credits. This Act includes a provision that offers homeowners tax incentives for energy efficient home improvements made in 2009 and 2010. The products that are covered include windows and doors that meet a certain criteria.
To qualify the windows and doors must meet a U-Factor rating and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient equivalent to or less than .30. Not all Energy Star rated windows qualify. The tax credit applies to the cost of product only. The labor/installation costs are not eligible for the tax credit.
